Boat checks and surveys continue at full pace in San Sebastian harbour this morning.

 

43-year-old Elaine Hopley from Dunblane in Scotland passed with flying colours. One of four solo rowers, she is raising money for the Alzheimer Scotland charity with her TWAC 2016 campaign. The recommended daily intake of food is 5,000 calories a day, and today we counted more than 150 neatly packed rations laid out for inspection in front of her boat.

Just 7 days before Race start, solo rower Dimitry Rezvoy’s boat has yet to arrive in the marina. Dimitry will certainly have a few very busy days completing his final preparations, but Race Organizer Carsten Olsen is utterly confident he will be more than ready by next Wednesday.

In the meantime, a brand new turbocharged jet-ski has been acquired to supervise the water trials over the next few days. Manfred, the skipper of the Race’s Antigua-based support-yacht, is also in town and extremely happy to give the new jet-ski a polish and embellish her with the appropriate level of TALISKER WHISKY ATLANTIC CHALLENGE branding!
