Marieke and Renate are in for the Double. With their team of 4 ‘Atlantic Dutchesses’ they won the female class of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge 2020. Their story is not over yet. Loving the Ocean and addicted to rowing, they are ready for yet another adventure.

For an outsider it may be hard to follow why they can’t stop rowing and longing for another challenge that will put their stamina to new limits. But why explain when life is too short to do all the things you love doing.

The charity was an obvious choice: the Women’s Heart. Just like their Atlantic campaign they choose right from the heart for this charity as there is so much more research needed to identify differences between men’s and women’s hearts.

These two women follow their hearts: heart to follow.

We are a German-Swiss-team and got to know each other during the preparation for the TWAC 2019.

Catharina Streit, 35 years old was skipper oft he 1st German female team to row any ocean and Winner of the female class in TWAC 2019, she is a quality team leader. Tatiana Aristilde Baltensperger, 57 years old, was skipper of the 1st Swiss female team to row any ocean and will participate  the TWAC 2022 with her family team „The Ocean Spirit“.

Our experiences from our last Atlantic crossing in 2019 showed us that we are able to grow under extreme endurance conditions. Instead of fighting against adversity we practice to make the best of every situation in order to impower our resilience.
As a team we cultivate an appreciative relationship, where humor, caring and reliability are important values.

As a team we want to raise awareness of the effects of ocean pollution and raise funds to tackle this issue. On a journey outside of our comfort zones we are excited go face to face with ocean rowing for the first time.
And as our challenge is a global one, we want to work with a global charity that shares our vision to rid the world’s oceans of plastic. This is a mission that everyone should be contributing towards and we think the best thing we can do is row to support The Ocean Clean Up. Their technology and big picture thinking continue to inspire us and make them the best equipped organisation to tackle this environmental crisis.

Itsallinthemind are thrilled to be taking part in the Pacific Challenge. An epic journey which promises beautiful views, a challenging test of endurance, and an inspiring sense of comradery.
As individuals the team are no strangers to pushing their levels of stamina – Tod Harrison has completed in an English Channel swim, taken part in multiple Iron Man UK contests and several ultra-marathons. His fellow rower Dan Manwaring has also completed several similar endurance contests and is always looking to add to this list.

The Pacific Challenge is something they have both always wanted to take part in and the team are buzzing with enthusiasm to be heading out to compete in the 2024 race.

Mind is a charity which has some very personal links to the team.  The charity works tirelessly to make sure everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets the support and respect they so rightly deserve.

“Mind works tirelessly to support and bring awareness of the issues faced by those with mental health issues and their families.  All our team’s members have been affected by these issues at some point in our lives, and we are delighted to be rowing in support of this charity in 2024.”

The Swiss national flag

We want to prove that people over 50 or 60 or 70 can achieve great things physically, mentally and psychologically. People over 50 should be taken seriously, valued and respected. Their know-how is often huge and of great benefit to companies and society. This wisdom drives us.

More and more people are contracting this disease without expecting much help from outside. This means an immense effort for the partner/family and their quality of life is also lost. We want to help these people, stimulate research so that the disease can be stopped in the early stages.
